Will replacing the screws on my guitar lower its value?

I have a ’72 blonde telecaster and the original screws are still on but are rusted to pieces on the scratchplate and i was just wondering if it would lower its value. I was also considering replacing the tone and volume knob as the chrome has worn off, the same question applies. I have no intention of selling the guitar at all at the moment so the aesthetics would only be for me but if in the future i wanted to i wouldn’t want lower its value.

Absolutely will lower the value. Any thing you repair or replace drops the value of a classic Vintage Guitar. And a 72 Tele is definitely that (nice guitar by the way).

For things such as rusty screws and worn knobs, you can replace them for to play the guitar if you prefer. However definitely keep the originals. If and when you go to sell it, you will want to put those back on. I would not do anything to the guitar that is not reversible, such as swap out pickups or pots. You want to leave the original wiring in tact and unaltered if possible.
