Guilty or not, Never sign or say anything unless you have a lawyer or a legal representative present.Local Media:Avoid local media at all cost, they can very easily escalate a situation out of all proportions. You can pour your heart out to Your Own media when you get back home.Facebook and Twitter:Think twice before bad mouthing a holiday location, local inhabitants, and or authorities. Particularly while you are still in that location. If you are detained for any reason be very careful about what you say and write, as you may find your Facebook or Twitter blog being used against you in a court of law down the track. Again never bad mouth authorities who are charged with your care, be polite but firm,. It is far better to say nothing and discuss it with Lawyers and or Consulate staff at a later date.Rapport with Local authorities:Loss of confidence with authorities is not uncommon in host countries, the penalty for what would be a trivial infringement back in your home country could easily led to your arrest with a penalty or fine far outweighing that of any you may of received back in your home country for a similar situation. Again at the first sign of trouble with authorities contact your Embassy or representative Consulate.Travel Disruptions:Be prepared for any disruption to travel plans at any time. Maintain a cool, polite, and firm outlook, will always put you in a better position than that gained by being hostile and aggressive. Always try to have a backup plan. All travel staff regularly communicate with each other, being polite, respectful under pressure can go a long way particularly if things are not going to plan.
