Extraordinary Musical Instruments – The Keyboard Beat Maker – Best Beatmaker Software Online

Not a lot of people know that there are a lot of weird instruments that exist in the music world. Not everything that makes beautiful music is beautiful themselves. Some are so strange looking that you’ll have to take a second and third look at the instrument to figure out how in the world it came to produce melodies and harmonies.

And we’re not talking about misshapen guitars and freaky-looking flutes here. We’re talking about seriously strange and borderline sick instruments that’ll make you wonder what genius or seriously twisted mind ever came up with this idea.

The Kalashnikov Guitar

These guitars are made from AK-47 rifles. These re-done guitars still feature the rifle’s main base including body, handle and trigger. On one end you can still hold it up to pretend aim. And on the other end you can adjust the guitar strings to prepare for a session jam. Truly one of the weird instruments of the world, not to mention quite disturbing too. I guess you can say that it’s deadly in more ways than one.

The Tsabona

This magnificently instrument hails from Greece. It made its debut approximately 2000 years ago. These weird instruments are very similar to the Scottish bagpipes. It plays a total of six notes.

The magnificence of this instrument is that its “bag” is made from goat skin. Thank goodness the mouthpiece is non-goat! Try breathing in and out of a super geriatric dead goat. Freaky!

The Picasso Guitar

This guitar is also known as the multi-necked guitar. This instrument features one guitar body with four strangely angled protruding necks. In all, the necks come up with a total of 42 strings.

Although this guitar was made especially for guitarist Pat Methany, it seems like it was better suited for an alien with four odd angled necks and four hands. These truly weird instruments are fascinating and creepy at the same time.

The Sea Organ

Who knew the sea could play a musical instrument? The seas of Zadar in Croatia do. And they do it well too.

This sea organ is the first of its kind in the world. It is shaped to look like normal steps or stairs by the sea. It is over seventy meters long. And it has 35 organ pipes build under the concrete steps built by the shore. The wind from the sea air and the pushing tides power the organ. And since these two are unpredictable at best, the musical concertos that result are always fresh and new. This strange instrument is a real treat for the senses and a testament to the magnificence of the human mind.

The Uberorgan

This weird instrument was thought of and executed by the artist, Tim Hawkinson. This instrument looks like a series of translucent giant jellyfish connected to each other by their equally gigantic tentacles. These jellyfish like structures make a sound similar to a bagpipe, a very large bagpipe that is. This extreme visual and audio art was originally made for the 15,000 square foot gallery of the MassMOCA. So you can only imagine how very imposing it is.

Since its inception, this massive piece of strangeness has also travelled to New York City and to the Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

Musical Instruments – The Keyboard

There are many kinds of musical keyboards, from the accordion to player pianos. It is traditionally defined as a set of adjacent levers or keys that can be depressed to create a sound. A properly built keyboard can traditionally represent the twelve notes on the musical scale, with smaller keys for octave intervals.

Sound is created on a keyboard is created when the key is depressed, which leads to a string being struck or plucked, air going through a pipe or a bell being struck. The most commonly encountered keyboard instrument is the piano, which has led to the layout being called the ‘piano keyboard’.

Accordion

The accordion is a kind of musical instrument that hails from Europe. Likely made popular in North America by Weird Al Yankovic, it produces an extremely distinct sound, one that is not likely to be mistaken for anything else. Due to the way that it is operated, it is often called a “squeezebox”.

Most models of accordions are diatonic, which means that they produce a different sound depending on whether or not air is entering or exiting the instrument.

Playing the accordion requires more dexterity than the average keyboard instrument. It requires the user to ‘pump’ or ‘squeeze’ the instrument as they are playing the accordion, with both hands controlling either side of the accordion. It is, however, extremely rewarding and unique as an instrument.

The Harpsichord

Like the accordion, it is a European keyboard instrument. It makes its sound by plucking the string rather than striking it the way a piano would. Otherwise, it is extremely similar to a piano in terms of looks. However, it only looks like a piano. It sounds completely different.

This keyboard was most widely used during the Renaissance and is best used in Baroque music. While use of this instrument waned after the age of rebirth, it found new life in the twentieth-century, coming back into style in pop culture through new musical compositions.

The Organ

The organ is an ancient style of piano which uses air power as opposed to striking a string like a normal piano would. When an organ player presses a key, it completes a circuit that releases air through a pipe, generating a sound. This gives it the ability to sustain a note, something that a normal piano cannot do.

Unlike a piano, which is made to lead an arrangement, organs are traditionally delegated as the body of a musical piece. It can give a lot of depth to an arrangement as it can sustain a note indefinitely. Most of the time, its part is to offer support to the rest of the piece.

The Electronic Keyboard

The electronic keyboard is essentially a digital piano. There are generally four components to any electronic keyboard: the keyboard itself, user software, chord and/or rhythm generator, the speaker or amplifier, and the sound generator.

The keyboard is self-explanatory. Except for striking a chord, it often performs the same task that a normal piano keyboard would. It instead completes a circuit that tells the keyboard to generate the appropriate sound. The user software determines what kind of sounds the electronic keyboard should make. Most electronic keyboards can be used to emulate other kinds of pianos or even a drum kit. A rhythm and chord generator can produce automatic accompaniment.

Keyboards are still used the world around, often to add class to a musical piece. While most popular culture bands opt not to take advantage of the keyboard, orchestras still utilize keyboard instruments as a part of their ensemble.
